* On a Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP
Machine:
1. Right Click on the "Desktop" and scroll down and click on "Properties"
2. In the "Display Properties" window click the "Settings" tab
3. At bottom right change the "Screen Resolution" to at least 1024 x 768
4. Click "OK" to change settings then "Yes" in the "Monitor Settings" window
* On a Mac OS X Machine:
1. Open the System Preferences (either from the Dock or from the Apple menu).
2. Open the Displays Panel and choose the Display tab.
3. On the left of the Displays tab you can select one of the Resolutions from
the list. Higher resolutions
allow you to see more “stuff”. IT is recommending at least 1024x768 unless you
have a specific reason
to use a lower resolution.
4. Quit or close the System Preferences when done.

To Enable Java in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0:
1. Click Start, select Settings and Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options to open Internet Properties.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Select Internet and click Custom Level.
5. Scroll down to Scripting of Java Applets and select Enable.
6. Click OK.
* To Enable Java in Netscape Communicator / Navigator 6.0:
1. Click Edit, and select Preferences on the menu bar.
2. Click on the word Advanced.
3. Click to check mark Enable Java on the right hand side of the screen.
4. Click OK.
* To Enable Java in America Online 9.0:
1. Click Start, select Settings and Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options to open Internet Properties.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Highlight Internet and click Custom Level.
5. Verify that Active Scripting, Allow paste operations via script, and
Scripting of Java applets are
either set to Enable or Prompt in the Scripting section.
6. Click OK.
* For other browser versions go

* If you need to download the latest version of java you can get it

* If you don't see an animation playing on the entrance page of the site, you
may not have the
FlashPlayer Plug-in. Download it

1. Click the "Download Now" button to begin installing Macromedia Shockwave
Player.
2. When asked, save the Installer to your desktop.
3. When the download is complete, locate the Installer and double-click on it.
The Installer will
launch and dialog boxes will lead you through the rest of the installation
process.
4. When the Macromedia Shockwave Player movie begins playing, your installation
is successful.
You may need to modify your popup
controls to allow access for this Web Site.
* To add a site to the "Allowed Sites" list in Netscape 7.2:
1. Start Netscape 7.2.
2. Click the “Edit” menu and then select preferences.
3. In the left hand panel, double click the words “Privacy & Security” or single
click the triangle near them.
4. Select “Popup Windows” below “Privacy & Security”.
5. In the right hand panel, check the “Block unrequested popup windows” box.
6. Click the “Allowed Sites…” button to the right.
7. Add "getincontrol.org" to the list of Allowed Web Sites.
8. Click “OK” to close the Allowed Web Sites window and “OK” again to close the
preferences window.
* To add a site to the "Allowed Sites" list in Internet Explorer:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click "Internet Options".
3. Click the "Privacy" tab.
4. Under "Pop-up Blocker" enable "Block Pop-ups" then click on "Settings"
5. At top, under "Web sites to allow" enter "www.getincontrol.org"
6. Click "Add" and then "Close" at bottom of window
* To register and pay for the
course you need a major credit card ie. VISA, MC, AMEX, DISCOVER.
Just click on the "Sign-up" link on the top bar and follow the instructions to
pay through our Secure Server.
Once you have paid, you will receive a "Transaction ID" and will be able to
choose a "Username" and
"Password" for this course. Make sure to save your secure information in a safe
place as you will need
it for your final course Exam.
* If you don't have a major credit
card you can make out a cashier's check or a money order payable to
ISIC Inc. in the amount of $49.95 and mail it to 252 West 29th Street, New York,
NY 10001.
Don't forget to enclose your full name, contact information such as current
address, phone number
and e-mail. For proof of age, include a copy of one of the following: Driver's
License, Birth Certificate,
Passport, Military ID, Student ID with Photo, etc. Once we have received your
payment and information
we will contact you with your assigned username and password for the course. If
you have any

* Once you have paid for the ISIC Course through our secure server you will be
taken to a menu where
you will choose a “username” and “password” that you will use to access the
course. Simply click on
the LOGIN link on the top left of any page, enter your chosen “username” and
“password” and you're in!
* You have one year from the day you register to access the ISIC course and to
take the State Exam.
You can study at your leisure and prepare for the Exam by taking the
self-testing quizzed after each
chapter and the review at the end of the course. For more information about the
ISIC course refer to
the
Course
Instructions section.
* Yes, you can print the course in a .doc (Microsoft Word) format or in .txt
(Notepad).
* Yes, you may print a copy of the ISIC Exam, complete it and send it in to us
for evaluation as long as
you take the exam within the one year of registering for the ISIC Course
* Yes, you can re-take the ISIC Exam if you don't pass it the first time for a
processing fee of $19.95.
Once you take the innitial Exam upon course completion, you will your final
score at the end of the
exam. If you do not get a passing grade you can proceed to the
SIGN-UP link on
our site and click
on "RE-TEST SECURELY" button to take the test again.
* Your Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you within 48 hrs of your
completion of the ISIC course
and successful passing of the Exam. If you do not receive your Certificate
within 2 weeks of Course
completion, please contact our Customer Service department at

* Yes. We are currently in the process of making the ISIC Course available in
Spanish, Russian, Korean,
Chinese and French. If your native language falls outside of these, please email
us with a request to
tech@getincontrol.org

* The New York State law dictates that you have to be at least 17 years of age
to be licensed in the following Appearance Enhancement Professions:
Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Specialty, Waxing, Natural Hair Styling
and Barbering. Therefore, you need to be at least 17 years of age by the time
you take the ISIC NY State
Aproved Exam offered as part of the ISIC Course.
